Funeral arrangements set for teen who died in boating accident
Visitation is Thursday for the 17-year-old who died in a boating accident early Saturday morning on the Ohio River.
Timothy Austin Hagedorn died early Saturday morning when a 38-foot vessel and an 18-foot run-a-boat collided in the water between the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge and Queen City River Boats.
Visitation for Hagedorn will be at Stith Funeral Homes at 7500 Highway 42 in Florence on Thursday, August 25 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at St. Paul Church, 7301 Dixie Highway Florence, KY 41042, on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 12:10 p.m.
Hagedorn will be buried following the service at Highland Cemetery Ft. Mitchell, KY.
Hagedorn was a senior at Boone County High School and a member of the Hebron Fire Explorer Program.
He was one of five passengers in the smaller boat who was sent into the water after the crash. His body wasn't recovered until about 10 hours later.
Police say the smaller boat had just left the Beer Sellar before the accident and their lights were not running. It's unknown if life vests were being worn or if alcohol or drugs played a factor.
The incident was reported to 911 by a person in a condominium who was looking at the river and saw the accident happen.
A memorial Facebook page has been set up in Hagedorn's honor.

Hail to the what? | American Catholic Blog
For your sake, I hope you haven’t seen a new series of commercials that advertise a product by Summer’s Eve.
As you probably know, Summer’s Eve makes hygiene products for women. And, frankly, no woman really wants to think about them.
Apparently, despite that basic truth, some advertising genius in a Madison Avenue boardroom decided to greenlight the “Hail to the V” campaign to focus a huge, raging spotlight on these items in the most tasteless and crudest way possible.
The ads feature a woman’s closed hand, turned sideways. The hand is intended to represent … a different body part. (Think Georgia O’Keeffe here.)
The hand talks to you, the helpless viewer. And it talks three different ways in three different ads, geared toward white, black and Latina audiences. In each case the, uh, talking hand speaks with an accent and a general dialect identifiable as a conglomerate of every ethnic stereotype known to mankind.
The first time I saw one, I sat speechless. “This cannot be real,” I kept thinking. Ohhhh, it’s real all right. And it’s disgusting. Not to mention mystifying.
Maybe I’m a prude. Maybe I don’t have a sense of humor. Maybe I’m one of those Catholics who’s just ever-so-out-of touch.
All I’m sure of is one thing: When the crucified Jesus said, “Son, behold your mother,” he gave Mary to all of us, and in doing so he lifted up women in a special way.
Why then must people keep trying to drag us down?
