William Steig: Poor Pitiful Pearl - See Saw
Oh honey, I'm still in love with my Pearl! I saw the food giant for sale, and each week she was still on the board I went home crying because no one had bought the wrong doll welcoming. I was 10 at the time. A week when we went there and it was gone! I was sad to see her go, but thrilled that she finally had a home. My mother and I talked all the way back. I was so excited it was finally adopted. I did not know, but it had been passed by me! My mother bought me for my birthday. She understood my sensitivity and compassion for this inanimate object as if it were a real person with feelings and bought it for me to do a little happy mom! To date, Pearl has a place of honor in my house. 61 years and I always give her a kiss now and then.
I came across this page while looking at a picture of clothing in tatters Pearl. My Pearl was my favorite doll since Christmas 1958 when I was only five. She was cross with the United States until 1974, when I married and moved to France. She then returned to the United States in recent years in the late seventies, and took a boat back to France since 1982. She survived a fire without damage. I asked him out today to show my granddaughter 20 months. I put aside if and until it is over to show him again. What memories of days like playing with my friends, and here she smiled at me on my bed in Provence. (My husband never understood how I could love her so much!)
I can not believe it! I took my pearl in 1963 when I was 7. I liked him a lot, she is my favorite too.Unfortunately, my mother got rid of her at some point but I bought new in late 1980 at a Toys R to replace my first and has held a place of honor in my room since! I keep him in her party dress, but I have the dress she came in a ziploc!
When I was about 5 years I had a doll PPP. It still has a place in my heart even if my mother got rid of her after she spent a night outside in the rain. I would always play school with my dolls and Pearl has always been the master. I also remember my first Barbie, but Pearl was the doll I loved best. What is it about this doll is so memorable?
