History Helped Dodson Weather Tough Bite

Table Rock fishing difficult during the weekend of Columbus Day. There is probably no definitive answer as to why, but local and FLW Tour Pro Robbie Dodson, who won the Central EverStart there last weekend, was unable to work any type of pattern.

He feels the fishing is always more difficult than in October for largemouth fish, it often takes to win, but this year, especially spotted bass fishing has been slow.

The last day of the event to three days, he weighed only 10 pounds to win, and half of the 10 fishermen in the final field day weighed less than 8 pounds.

Here is an overview of how Dodson won.

Practice

Dodson noted that practiced "fairly difficult" for the event, but he spent his entire practice in depth in order to discover a pattern.

Two weeks before he and his father won a boat in a Heartland event, and they did with the bank to the river fish. He had planned to fish that bite, but I wanted a backup model of depth to go with it.

"I just wanted to find a school of fish out there," he said. "I could never find it. In two days I do not know I caught a single custodian. I caught 20 to 30 Kentucky (spots), but they were all 14 1 / 2 and March 14 / 4 and can not keep.

"So I just went in with an open mind and to four poles. I fished (Lake) all my life, so if it was going to be fishing bank, I knew where I was going to catch up the river where we won this tournament Heartland. "

Competition

> Day 1: 5, 15-00
> Day 2: 5, 12-02
> Day 3: 5, 10-04
> Total = 37 to 06 (15)

Dodson began her stuff on the river and took 15 Heartland books.

"I was just running streams in a little salt water with a spinnerbait and the new E-Luck-Strike Rick Clunn up the bill," he said."I really do not fish hard and just covered with plenty of water."

Things were different there on day 2. There were more boats there and "it was just different," he said. He stopped on his stuff Heartland, turned and went to a finesse jig. He turned, sloping and laid the template and hit what appeared to be a hundred places. Its main targets were laydown, large rocks, stuff falling typical points, but there was no common thread to his bite and he never been able to establish a pattern.
