TIFF 2011, Day 2: We Need to Talk About Kevin

Premiere, and I managed to see Anna Faris, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman and .... Brad and Angelina! It was very exciting to see the hottest Hollywood couple in person (even though I was about six rows deep). I even managed to hang some pictures! Only at TIFF that I spend an hour crawling on the stars whose film I see the next day ...

to a terribly high bar for next week's festival. The film lives up to the raves that Sasha and many others have heaped on him already. The film is an excellent adaptation of the novel by Lionel Shriver overwhelming of a mother, Eva, who tries to reconcile his degree of guilt in the shooting in a school committed by his son, Kevin. All Shriver novel is composed entirely of correspondence between Eva and her husband, Franklin, Lynne Ramsay follows the act of dispensing with the narrator in the first person to Morvern Callar with raw, discordant visuals, and an ingenious sound design.

Ramsay evocative visual pattern creates multiple parallel between Eva and Kevin.Through clever framing, intelligent cuts match the while, the film reinforces the similarities between physical and psychological Eva and Kevin. Both characters are also well served by Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller. Swinton Sub-worthy performance from the ranks of his best. Eva seems so full of life in flashbacks of his childhood, but when the film traces the present, the glum face and tired Swinton is a deeply affecting portrait of hell-feeding. Kevin Miller also invested with a subtle complexity in his demonic smile. Like mother, like son.

In addition to the strange similarities between the two draws Ramsay Khatchadourian, the director has a strange way of turning the mundane details of daily life in the cooling of the omens of their fall. Ramsay recurring close-ups and ability to use ordinary objects to universalize the situation Khatchadourian 'are quite surprising.

Toronto 2011 Review: MONEYBALL – Brad Pitt's Entertaining ...

Note:

I admit it. Nothing interests me less than sports movies. No, wait, there's something, it would be "inspirational sports movies based on true stories." Simply put, my editor, Mr. Holmes said that I should attend the premiere of one of the greatest American films in the festival, I trotted rather hesitant.

As I'm sure you can see by the score, it was much better than I thought it would, but not a revelation. Moneyball is a film about baseball.I am a British guy who almost all sports and hate could not show less interest in them if I tried. Seriously, I tried. Anyway, for those of you have never seen a baseball game before, I can tell you they are excruciatingly boring. They are by no means as dynamic as they appear on the big screen. Discounts on big screen all fucking wait. Baseball is a game composed of waiting ... And I thought cricket was bad.

However, Moneyball came as a relief when he chose to spend less time on the ground as possible, and instead focus on what is happening at the level of background scenes, in terms of team management. The Columbia Pictures film tells the true story of Billy Beane Oakland A manager who turned a baseball team of evil by adopting a complex system based on the statistics generated by computer analysis of the project to its players.

This is the inspiring story with real movie star Brad Pitt as Beane overcome obstacles and try to change the face of baseball, taking an intelligent approach to his team incredibly underfunded. This is a true story, so if you follow baseball, then you probably know how it is played.

It is interesting to note that the film is surprisingly slow for what is ostensibly a film for a general audience. It is actually not much action in the movie at all and there is a surprising amount of time spent with Brad Pitt as he broods in his car. Or her office. Or her home.Or smoldering in his car while driving. You have not seen this much since Twilight brooding. At the same time as Brad Pitt creates a man who emits an aura of confidence and supreme charm when it faces other, but when he's on his own, he is often teetering on the edge, tortured by his own failures past. We are treated to flashbacks of Beane ruin his career at first, but they could probably be omitted and you would not really notice.
